Pantano Wash Near Vail (09484600), October 30, 1961

Garrett Anderson, #4658
Pantano Wash, a tributary of Rillito Creek southeast of Tucson,
is perennial in this reach owing to a concrete dam downstream built over bedrock
outcrops. The stream is unregulated upstream from the gaging station; the concrete
sill forms a weir that provides a low-water control for the gaging station.
The flood of record, estimated to be 38,000 ft3/s, occurred in 1958.
The channel margins support mesquite.
