Sabino Creek is a perennial stream in Sabino Canyon about 12
miles northeast of Tucson, Arizona. This creek drains 35.5 mi2
of the Santa Catalina Mountains and is a major recreational area for residents
of Tucson and Pima County. Part of the attraction is a robust riparian ecosystem,
which lines a stream punctuated by dam-controlled pools. The contrast of desert
and riparian is striking here, with saguaro cacti marking the ridgelines.
