Sabino Creek Near Tucson (09484000), April 2, 2001

Dominic Oldershaw, Stake 2439
The gaging station was moved downstream about a thousand feet
in 1974, and the stilling well was removed. A flood of 15,400 ft3/s
occurred on July 15, 1999, causing considerable damage to roads and dams in
the canyon upstream. The camera station is not exact, owing to both shifting
of the channel and about five feet of deposition since 1938. The view is now
largely obscured by thick stands of Goodding willow and velvet ash, both of
which have increased nearby despite recent floods.
