OTTER CREEK
Trusler Ranch
Site # MY - 16
This site is located just east of Ashland, downstream from the U.S. 212 bridge crossing Otter Creek. It is in a "pool". Within the site is a U.S.G.S. continuous depth recording gauge (06307740).
The stream is incised about 3 to 4 meters below a broad valley. The banks are thickly vegetated, and appear to be quite stable. Land around the site is used mostly for grazing, and does not seem to be overgrazed.
Water is backed up behind a riffle about 100 meters down stream from cross-section 1.
The water is turbid (visibility about 0.18 m.) and moving very slowly. Bed material is either fine gravel (0.5 - 1.0 cm) or fine gravel overlain with silt-clay. There are riffled down stream from the site with clasts up to 10 centimeters in diameter.
Otter Creek (Site # MY - 16) was surveyed 13 August 1975.
Angles determined by a Brunton are followed by a (B), all others derived from plane table data. Distances determined with a tape are followed by a (T), all others found using the alidade. The rod is touching the alidade side of the survey point, and is centered. Compass compensation is 15.5°. See Table 1.
